Making the coach cool....

When we go camping, we always take our dog. I have been worrying about having to leave her in the class c when we get one. I have been researching everything I can about making the coach as safe as possible if we ever have to leave my baby in the coach for a few hours. First thing is keeping the coach cool, in order to make sure this happens , I will be installing a Onan EC30W auto start for the generator to sense if we ever lose shore power, so the A\C won't go out. I will also install a thermostatically controlled fantastic fan with auto open/close feature. To vent the generator exhaust if it comes on due to power failure, a Genturi. I was also thinking of also using an "go cool" portable 12 volt A\C in conjunction with rooftop A\C. And last but not least a big bowl of water that is spill-proof with lots of ice. That is just for heat issues, don't get me started on other topics...lol
Have I missed anything?

Let alone left outside tied to a tree. That is the main reason our dog never went with us. Otherwise it would save us big bucks since, next to the gas, the kennel costs are my biggest expense. Cat stays home no problem.

  • We have a cat and have a couple of plastic louvers that fit on the windows that let the air in even when it rains, we bought them at Camping World to long ago to remember name, runing the A/C is good but do not run it and have the roof vents open at the same time, we run the A/C with all windows and vents closed.

I have installed a piece of stainles steel curved to direct the rear A/C towards the rear and the cat loves to rest on the cool spot on the floor where the air hits.

  • I would open the vents and let the dog relax while you're away. As long as there is some circulation, there shouldn't be a problem. If you could talk to your animal, you might be asked why you choose to infuriate him with the added racket of a generator and AC whirring above his head.
  • Maybe put a Nanny Cam or Dash Cam in your RV to see what your pets do when your away. If you have a dog crate, put a frozen water (milk) jug inside it.
  • Dogs seem to do a lot better in heat than humans do.

    Water is needed
And the fantastic fan to help circulate air. We had two one in front set to exhaust and one in the rear set to bring air in. Made for good circulation.
All shades puilled down and turned to block the sun, Patio awning deployed to shade the side of the RV.
Our dogs would lay on the vinyl floor and move from time to time to get water and find a cooler spot.

This worked when the inside temp would approach 80.

We've been in 110 degree outside heat with our two Keeshonds (very furry). At the time we didn't have A/C in our RV. We tied them up outside where they could get in the shade under the RV or a tree. They would dig a small pocket in the earth and lay in it for a while, move away for a short time and then come back, like they were letting the spot cool off. Drank lots of water. We would spray them with a mist sprayer from time to time.
