Mounting 90 deg. or 45 deg. entry door holders

For those of you using a 90 deg. or 45 deg. entry door holder, how are you doing it? I ask because those holders will typically land somewhere on the door where there is no solid wood on the interio...

BOTH pieces must be located and oriented where there is good support; not always easy, but pretty much required. If the location of one results in a bad location for the other, then the first needs to be relocated or modified.

If relocation is not possible, then how about a larger aluminum plate (1/8" thick, painted) attached (using screws or pop rivets) to either the wall or the door to give additional support where is needed?
