Planning to mount a flat-screen TV in my Jayco trailer. There is a panel provided for this but I suspect it's not very thick (3/4" at best?) and thus heavy-duty screws likely are out (there's a mirror on the flip side). Suggestions?

Possibly attach a piece of 3/4" plywood to existing piece of 3/4"? This would give you a 1-1/2" thickness. Use 1-1/4" screws and Tightbond II or III glue.Bill

With the new light weight TV's you are probably okay placing 4 wood screws through the bracket. I had no problem with mine.

can the mirror be removed, at least until it is fastened. I wouldn't do it with only screws unless you are willing to take the TV off the bracket every time you are going to move the rV. use bolts and if necessary put spacers between the mirror and the wall. at any rate, I would put that extra 3/4 inch piece of plywood on the mirror side.bumpy

I replaced the Jensen 32" TV in our 5er with a 40" LED TV. It's about 1/3 the weight. Way thinner as well. Twice the picture too.

Depends on how you are thinking of mounting it and what size you want to mount. If you mount the largest weight TV rated for a single swing arm mount then I would think twice about just the 4 screws used on those types of mounts.If you are going to mount the big style plate to the wall that uses the two brackets that are bolted to the back of the TV to hang on it, that doesn't let the TV swing out, and you fill every hole on the plate with a screw then you would be fine with large wood screws.There is also a Hybrid type that uses 2 arms to swing out (although much less than a single arm) that I would feel comfortable with if I had a strap or something to secure the TV against the wall during travel.
