They make snow plows for just about all PUs. If the snow is that deep that you need a plow probably not safe to drive there. 6 to 12 inches of snow shouldn't be a problem. The danger is what is under the snow. Huge holes, logs or rocks covered by snow, etc. In WY we're about 3 miles off the highway. Everyone seems to get to work in a couple feet of snow with 4WD without it being plowed. However, if someone does get stuck there is someone else there to help pull them out. On your own off main county roads they may not find you until the spring thaw. I would hesitate being over confident with a plow on a PU.
BTW I have a bucket and a blade on my 4WD tractor. It has 6 ft high and 12 inch wide tires on the rear and I still slide around pushing snow.
