new laminate flooring

We want to install laminate in lieu of carpet. Our concern is the flooring is not as deep as the carpet so the slide sticks up along the edge and do we remove the captains chairs posts or try to install the laminate around it. would tightening down the chairs to the floor cause it to crack ?Our slide has no step up.It sits flush with the carpet when out. Any suggestions will sure be appreciated.
  • Mount the chairs through the laminate. It's very tough and wont crack.
You'll have to measure for yourself as to whether there's enough clearance for the slide out to clear the new floor without grinding against it.

The biggest mistake I see people make when installing laminate is forcing the boards together too tightly. Doing so causes the edges to distort and look bad. Apply just enough pressure for them to seat or snap.
