We have been talking about replacing the carpet and tile in our 2004 Holiday Rambler since we bought it last Feb. When we were looking at coaches we asked a couple of different places about doing the install. I don't remember what the quotes were but they were in the thousands. When I'm done I will have less than a $1,000 in the whole job. I'm pretty handy, have done a lot of tile work and have put down a laminate wood floor about a year ago in a cabin. So I thought I'd give it a shot... Carpet tear out wasn't bad, but the tile demo was a beating..Here are a couple of pics the last one is just a preview of what we are putting down. I will add some more as I go..

two quick questions herewhy is the laminet warped/wavy looking?you will offset the joints?also if your so proficient at tile why not tile the floor? tile is way better in so many ways

That's what I was saying in my post, that is just a preview of the wood laying on the floor it's not installed. Yes I will stagger the joints. We went with laminate wood over tile because that's what we wanted. There will be some tile added back in the kitchen area but we didn't want to keep the light colored tile that was there. And tile weighs a ton..

When I did mine, I coated the sub floor with urethane to seal it from odors and for any possible water damage in the future. Have fun, that looks great.

two quick questions here
why is the laminet warped/wavy looking?
you will offset the joints?

yes I am fully aware it was a preview. Just never saw laminet right out of box look warped like that and I have laid a ton of tile and laminet.Make sure u use a top quality dense underlay. Anyways iam sure it will be fine once its installed.good luck on your endeavour

we just finished ours. wow what a difference. it looks so good, and was pretty simple. went thru one table saw blade.
I am sure yours will be great also. it is good you can do it yourself, good help is hard to find.

now my wife wants to do the upstairs walkway

IMHO I would rather have tile and carpet. I'm not a fan of laminate wood floors.

me neither In my current MH I went with glue down Vinyl plank in bedroom and bedroom slide.Tile in the main area and 3/4 Hardwood on living room slide. I hate carpet in a MH

For me, tile or vinyl planking. "waterproof" is important.
