you could buy just one box, click them together in front of the slide and see what happens.
That would be my suggestion. Kinda takes the guesswork out. To get a realistic idea you'll have to remove the carpet, but then again you'll have to do that anyway.
Also recommend using under floor heating. Simple to put in as it just replaces the regular pad that goes under the laminate. You'll need a access to a circuit somewhere and a few hundred watts of surplus capacity available on the circuit. Keeps the feet nice and warm.
This is PERGO. Pretty bullet proof, easy to install and easy to look at. Colour is peruvian something or other. Got it at home depot. Its all heated. Did the bedroom as well. - TimayExplorerHey! Thanks! Where was that hiding?
Here's the pics:This picture shows the complete floor...originally the carpet was in the kitchen, about even with the right hand cabinet, just about 6 inches right of the vent.
This shows the gap I left. The instructions said to leave 1/4", so I got some paint stir sticks, cut them a couple inches long and used them for spacers. The blue arrow shows some spacers, while the red arrow shows the gap at the top. All was covered up with quarter round.

I did ours last spring - I just put laminate in the kitchen and bedroom and left carpet in both slides. My slides don't even come close to hitting the floor as they slide in. I knew it wouldn't be a problem, because the slides didn't hit the carpet before I removed it. Let's see if I can post a couple pics...this forum is not set up too well for pictures, I notice.
I for one would like to see pics of some of the installs.
Nope, I can't find a way to post pictures...if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. And no, I am not going to open an account on a picture hosting site...

We put laminate in our last TT. To get around the slide dragging across the laminate we just used some of the old carpet cut into 12"x12" squares and turned upside down. We would lay these down where the slide tipped in as it retracted. The slide would them slide the carpet squares along the laminate as it came in. When the slide was out we would just pick the squares up and store in a closet.
Our 5er the slide works a little different. It is flush when out the old one wasn't. Any way it worked for us. Still thinking about getting rid of carpet in this trailer. Good luck, John
We have the same thing, one big slider is flush when out, the other always on top. The flush one seems it could be a challenge to make look right. - shadows4NomadI for one would like to see pics of some of the installs.

Do your sliders actually sit on the main floor when in? I have been thinking about laminate but our sliders slide in on top of the carpet, I would think the laminate would get all scratched up with the sliders dragging on it.
Your right, it would.
This is going to be a case by case kind of thing. While it may work on one, it may not work on another.
If you have wheels that drag across the floor or the slide actual rest on the inside floor then it probably wont work because of potential damage and increased height - which will make the slide looser at the outside top edge. - Mopar_MudderExplorerDo your sliders actually sit on the main floor when in? - GearitisExplorerWe used TrafficMaster Ultra Allure, which is a click together, self floating, and water resistant solution. Measure score with a utility knife, break and click. Wears well, now on the slide, it just did not look well where the slide floor met the stationary floor, so we found some remnent carpet that was rugged and the right color,at Home Depot. We ripped out the old carpet, actually insulated under the new carpet mat, and insalled the new remenent carpet. Allowed it to overlap the slide joint by about 4 inches and then use Instabind to bind/bond the edge of the carpet for a professional look. We do a lot of NASCAR races and get a lot of traffic and dirt. DW loves it, as it cleans quickly, only needs a lightly dampened mop. Home Depot has samples so you can pick your color in your RV. It is a little heavy, as it added about 250 lbs but the old carpet weight was over 200 lbs with all the dirt and sand. Carpet is nasty in the main traffic areas...yuck!
- cpaulsenExplorerDid the bedroom and living room with laminate. I did not do the living room slide. Everything cleared just great and so much easier to keep clean.
