New Microwave

While out for the month our microwave took a dump! So with some trepedation about changing it at our camp site we went to the store and bought a new one. Five hours later it is in and working. I would not recomend doing the job away from home, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Final word is WOW, I cannot believe how quiet the fan is compared to the 9 year old microwave it replaced.

  • Our 19 year old Magic Chef microwave died a few days ago. When I removed it and pulled off the cover, I found the primary fuse was open with no signs of blowing from an overload. The fuse looked more like it vibrated apart or failed from metal fatigue, so I stuck in a similar 15 amp slow blow fuse from my spares as a test. The microwave lit right up and worked normally. Now reinstalled in it's cabinet, the microwave has continued to function normally.
  • Everything i need I keep at the store. ;)
Unless I have a feeling something is about to fail, then I bring what I need or I replace it before going out.

What? Are you saying that you had to go get a new microwave instead of having one in a storage compartment ready to go just in case....:)

Reading some posts here on the forum...folks carry a couple of spares along with them...along with enough other spare parts to completely refit a nuclear submarine..
