Here's what the frame looks like, the black lines show what is the steel part of the original frame, the purple lines show the wood, the green lines show the home made tongue on it now, and the orange lines will be the new tongue I intend to install on it.
From what I can tell, the original tongue only welded through the first cross member, the stubs of the old tongue are still there, its only very light gauge 1.5" square tubing. The rest of the frame is C channel formed out of stamped steel and the cross members are angle steel welded in between with the flat sides facing up and forward.
