A little better than nothing, IMHO. But only gives info when you are stopped.
I would spend a little and get a true tire pressure monitoring system. You really want to know if a tire goes low during that period when you are driving 65-70 mph for 2-3 hours at a time. Gives you time to stop before ruining a low tire on a slow leak. Or quickly stop if you have one suddenly go flat/blowout and you may not otherwise know it before ruining a wheel.
