Thanks for the detailed walkthrough.

So on the Momentum 395MS Thetford toilet the install went "OK" We installed left hand installation. Easy peazy. Follow the instructions and all works as expected. I haven't sat on it a washed my bum yet to see functionality. I'll just talk about the installation. There isn't enough play in the inlet line to attach the T adapter. You will need to drill a hole(or 2) about 2.5-3 inches back from the inlet valve. That means the toilet has to come out(2 screws easy). In the momentum 395ms what ever Bidet you install you'll have to remove because of space restrictions. We went under and opened the bottom to release some more hose and to help keep the hose out of the way as we drilled 2, 1 inch holes. So far we are happy so I am gonna call this solved.

I did very briefly consider a bidet in my trailer but I almost exclusively dry camp and I only have a 40 gallon (151.4 Litre) fresh tank so I ruled it out.

I think if some one knew how much water per cleaning cycle it uses, it could be different. if that water is the same or less than what you add to the bowel before relieving yourself to make the paper go down properly then its a wash or better, it if uses more then ya.

My guess is the cleaning would be 1 quart. The bowl holds 3 quarts full

StirCrazy I wonder it if it a incinerating toilet. burns the solids and evaporates the liquids. we have those on the shovels at work, they stink and are horrible unless they are meticulously maintained.
Can you elaborate on a shovel that has an incinerating toilet on it? I'm sure you're not talking about a hand shovel, and probably some kind of heavy equipment but just curious.

ya I work in a open pit copper mine and we have big shovels (electric powered) who's operators are required to be in them for a full 12 hour shift and are not close to washrooms or anything so the union negotiated washrooms for them. so it uses electricity to heat up the incinerator chamber after to use it to "dispose" of everything.
this isn't the exact brand but they are similar. they built a toilet stall building (like a mini atco trailer but just outhouse sized) and mounted it on the roof of the shovel behind the operators cab https://incinoletcanada.com/

What the Heck does this have to do with a Bidet in a Momentum 395ms?

Personal preference. The upside of a bidet is that you'll use less paper and more water which is better for your black tank and the environment. The downside is that it will use more water which will drain your FW and fill your black quicker. Not an issue with FHU. You can always shut it off when boondocking. I am sure any aftermarket, bolt on model will work.

its almost a difficult decision which way to go eh. put a bigger fresh tank to compensate, black is easier to clean out.. mind you the extra water used in flushing toilet paper down, might be what a bidet will use anyways so it might be a wash..

That's kind of what I was thinking. And like I said, you can shut it off when you don't want to use it. Never thought about a bidet in an RV but this thread has me thinking about it. Some of the new RVs we are looking at have electric toilets - I assume macerating. Not sure if a bidet would have much benefit there. Nevermind I have no idea of the pros and cons to an electric toilet. Frankly I'd rather have a simple standard one, but I have my sights set on a particular model and that's what it has.
