Our new phone and tablet charging station

[img][/img]

Hopefully the pics came through ok.

We were tired of cords and chargers all over the place. Added a new 120V outlet in an out of the way place ( tied into an outlet on opposite side of the wall ). Installed a Belkin plug in outlet with 6 regular plugs and two USB plugs ( has some surge protection ). Could not find exactly what we wanted so ended up building a small cabinet ( approx 12x 18 ) with a partial clear acrylic front so you can see what is in the cabinet. Holds our two phones, two tablets and enough room left over for the remotes ( tv / dvd ). Phones / tablets stand on end for easy access to charger plugs. Now we need to come up with a hook or something to hold the cords and keep them out of the way when in / out of use. Also plan to use the Belkin for our camera battery charger.
  • How did you mount the cabinet to the walls? Did you use two molly bolts or something?

Could not find a stud to attach to, which would have been ideal. Ended up using 1/4" x 2" toggle bolts. Due to the thickness of the walls ( 1 1/2" +/- ) I had to shorten the bolts as much as possible to still get the toggle to open and also not hit the outside wall. Put a washer on inside and ran the toggle through a small hole in back of the cabinet for strength. Not much weight so it should be ok.
  • Real nice cabinet. Gives me some ideas! How did you mount the cabinet to the walls? Did you use two molly bolts or something?

I would also add one of these USB adapter plugs connected to your 12VDC Battery system that will charge your devices when you are not connected to shore power... ETRAILER - AMAZON

Neat idea with your safe keeping storage holder
