Outside Television Mount

I want to install a TV mount on the outside of my RV right above my stereo compartment. I have a coaxial, electric outlet and stereo hook up in that compartment. I don't think there is any wood studs to mount it to. Since its behind my kitchen cabinets I was going to put a 3/4" backing of plywood from the inside and screw into that. I plan on powder coating white and either using putty tape and/or caulk to keep it waterproof.

My question is this, would it be sufficient to hold a 32" TV in place only when stationary? I would obviously take the TV down while traveling. What are you thoughts? How would you do this job?

Thanks in advance for your advice

I like the idea of mounting a swing-out mount on the inside of the storage compartment wall. Then it is real easy to just swing the HDTV inside the storage bay and close the door on it. This is great too when you want to leave your trailer unattended...

I seen this before and I appreciate the suggestion. Im just asking about a good way to mount it in the spot I specified. Not if I should mount it or where I should mount it. Im not worried about the rain. If thats the case I'll just keep using a table like have been before.

    Thanks
  • These new flat screen TVs are very light. A 32" probably would not weight much over 20 lbs. Since you are moving the TV, why not put it on a very small table that folds for storage? That way you can angle the table whichever way was necessary to prevent glare on the TV screen. I know a fixed mount TV is very hard to see when the sun is in the wrong location relative to the MH. Been there, done that. Even with the awning down it can be bad at times. Good luck.

Another problem may be what happens if it rains. You surly don't want moisture to get into your HDTV set. Having a mount on the outside wall may slow you down trying to get it taken down in a hurry...

I don't have much room being that my RV is small. I am limited on the compartments I have, I don't think I could fit a 32" in them. Possibly in the rear but with all my stuff in there I could break my TV.
  • That would work but I would hate handling the thing on a regular basis. I have our inside tv permanently mounted so it stays put all the time.

Maybe you could mount it inside a compartment/baggage door so that it stays put and you only have to open the door to use?
