Poor mans Snap Pad

Being cheap plus the fact I enjoy this sort of stuff, I made my own pads. I've been using these for a few years and I finally mounted these permanently to my landing gear. These are 10" deck footings you can buy at home centers or online even. I think I paid about $10 a piece a few years ago plus some hardware I had laying around.

  • We installed the Snap Pads on our fifth wheel and recently took a long road trip after. It was great! In all the stops we did, not once did we have to get out the four 4x4 chunks of wood we had been using under our front landing gear. The only drawback is that with them installed, it's heavier for me to lift the feet alone, so it now takes two of us - one to lift and the other to pull and position the pin. Despite that, I highly recommend Snap Pads. Well worth the money.
  • Hammerboy, if that is Silicone you used to connect the pads I would be very leery of it's holding ability.

If you look at the picture you will see the hardware that holds it on, the silicone just helps seals out any water.

  • Maybe I am missing something but it looks like the pad is glued to the pc that’s secured to the landing gear???

You may need to zoom in but it's there. Two horizontal bolts with locknuts that go thru eye bolts which are in turn bolted to the rv's foot also with locknuts. I would never just trust the silicone.
