  • Could be as simple as the others say but if you have a detector that activates a solenoid at the tank then you will need to order a special detector with matching solenoid.

    Agreed. If the old one was hard wired, just use a couple of wire nuts on the new one. 10 minute job if you are not handy.
  • 12V gear is easy, no shock hazard and you just connect the two wires. This is the only one with a 5 star rating on Amazon:

    All the rest are mostly three stars. These detectors are well known as a battery drain, they will run your batteries flat while in storage.
