- Francesca_KnowlExplorerLove it! Aren't those old how-to mags great?
I still have a whole set of Popular Mechanic's do-it-yourself encyclopedia. I don't think there was any project considered outside our abilities when they were written! - BumpyroadExplorer

put a bed in your car
great idea but I wouldn't cut up a 51 ford nowdays. that reminds me of my 51 olds 98. had an arm rest in the back seat. cut thru the steel and built a "bar" on the raised portion of the trunk with a locked door under the naugahyde for the arm rest cover.
bumpy - richardwiseExplorerMy dad had a 1958 Chevy station wagon. We just laid the back seat down and rolled out our sleeping bags. My brother and I loved our camping trips with
Dad. - Tin_PusherExplorer IIMom, Pop, and the nipper, all on a 39" wide bed. Comfy.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIWorked with a fellow that had a 1960's era Eldorado Cadillac.
He cut the roof off just behind front seats, cut out the rear deck, fabed up some sheet metal and turned it into a pick up truck El Camino/Ranchero Style.
Did a nice job on the mod.............but it just didn't look right :S - Francesca_KnowlExplorer

Standard rate for parking your car and using toilet and shower facilities is $1 for the night.
Unless you park at Wal..... Oh, nevermind :B - BrutusTheDogExplorer

Hey Jim, my first car was a 64 Rambler 330 Station Wagon in 1977. Seen a similar vintage Rambler at a small car show a few years back, stuck my head in the window to get a better look and the smell caused all kinds of forgotten memories to come flooding back! Oh, and the front, reclining bench seat was a big plus back then. - Clay_LExplorerHad a friend that in the 60s bought a used Volkswagen van and outfitted it for camping so he could take a trip to Alaska in it. He hand a blast!!
