Question on shower mod

We are picking up our new to us class motorhome next week and we wanted to purchase a in shower shampoo, conditioner, shower gell dispenser. There are lots to choose from but it is hard to tell how big they are and how good they work so... I figured i would ask you guys and see which ones you use and if they are big , small etc....

Thanks!

  • We installed a shower rod (spring type) in the shower/bath enclosure which is handy to hang towels and to hang our pocket-type shower mesh which holds the shampoo, conditioner, grandson's bubble bath, bar soap, etc!
  • Shower gel is a bottle with a built in hook on top so it hangs over the shower rod or over top edge of shower stall wall. I'll refill it as it goes empty. Looking for more like that for other products.
  • some valves do not close very well and run down the walls. bad enough for the bottles to leave a ring on the step or the floor let alone run down the walls.
  • We have one from CW that has 3 containers. It mounts with super strong double back tape. It has been on the shower wall since 1998 and hasn't moved, leaked, shot fluid out or....

This is what we do also. I have been thinking about getting a small tray that could hang over the top of the shower stall then I could put the bottles into it. It is getting harder to get the bottles from the shower floor. I would never leave the bottles up in the tray when traveling though. JMO
  • The problem I foresee is it coming down while on rough roads. Some of them mount with suction cups which are not great on rough roads. Others the mounting tape is very cheap and affected by moisture. I also wonder what freezing weather would do to the tape.
  • I don't know where you are looking, but why not go to a Bed-Bath-and-Beyond and see what they look like. I think WallMart carries some of these also. And places like Home Depot or Lowe's may have them too.

We have one in one of our bathrooms at home. I would think anything you can use in your home would work OK in an RV shower. However, as ours is in the guest shower, after some time of not using it, the soap gets gummed and when it finally breaks free, it fires like a cannon ball out of a cannon! Also, if it does not get used, I've noticed the soap and cream rinse and body wash begins to turn color and look nasty.

One thing that may happen by putting one of these in an RV shower, I would think the bouncing down the road would cause the liquids to squirt out, making a mess on your shower floor. I could be wrong.

Also, once they are attached to he wall, they are hard to remove. Although installed with that extra strong double sidded sticky tape, if you do want to remove it, that tape is just impossible to remove. If you use screws, you will forever have a hole in your wall.

Then you have to deal with the container in the winter months, which will probably mean taking it off the wall and bring it inside so the residue will not freeze and bust the squirter mechanism. I see you are from RI, you have cold winters there too to contend with and winterizing your RV.

Personally, I would never put one in my RV shower.

I would go to a place like Bed Bath and Beyond and see their selection and pick something you like that is the right size for your application. Most important thing IMO is how they install. The few I have looked at use double sided adhesive tape which may or may not stick well enough for you. We don't use a dispenser in our trailer. We have a stall shower and just set the bottles on the floor of the shower.
