Our carpet was laid down with 'tack strips' around edges by walls, with staples along front edges of slide outs and cabinets were set on top of carpet and then screwed down. Padding was stapled to floor..........LOTS of staples
We cut the carpet at cabinet bases then yanked it up. Yanked up the padding and then spent couple hours on hands/knees with a flat blade screw driver and pliers removing staples. Pried the tack strips up with flat blade screw driver.
