quick TV removal

My tv mounting bracket is screwed to an upper cabinet, and after we brought the trailer home, it was pulling out. So we always remove the TV from the swing arm when traveling. I got tired of trying to screw and unscrew the screws while holding the tv up to the bracket. So I went to the hardware store and got some threaded rod and wing nuts. I cut the rod into pieces and threaded it into holes. Now I just lift up the TV, stick the rods into the holes on the bracket and put on the wing nuts.

  • I ordered 2 mounts from Amazon that work good for us. They allow quick and easy removal of the TV with no nuts or screws to loosen.

  • I use 4 straps to hold tv in place. 2 vertical and 2 horizontal.
  • Our articulating TV arm has a thumb screw on top of the mounting pin/stud that we twist off to remove LED TV. No way TV can fall on it's own while doing so since mount attached to TV is resting on stud pin when removing thumbscrew. To remount we simply pop TV on mounting stud with no need to hold in place and install thumbscrew. Your setup works equally well.
  • Great idea if you need to remove the TV.
My TV has been hanging on for 5,000 miles so I'll just leave it in place.
  • I didn't know it unscrewed all the way until you said it. But, it might be a hassle to hold the tv with one hand and get the screw lined up with the other. With the way I've got it, the studs slip in the holes and take the weight so I'm not fighting the weight of the tv.
  • Why not just remove the thumb screw at the swivel and leave the rest attached to the tv??
