Refreshing my 1995 Class 24 WB Coachmen

This thread is for my 1995 Class C, Coachmen Catalina, 240WB. I am the 3rd owner and brought it home in 2006. I have managed to hang to it through some lifes ups and downs. And now that I am finally getting my life calmer, it's time to "tinker" on the RV.

I am in my early 40's so the RV is primarily weekend get-aways, used as a tow rig, and the occasional vacation. It is in solid mechanical shape, minimal water damage (Done before I got it) and everything inside works.

I have some big plans down the road, but as time and finances start, I am beginning on the little things.

I have 2 main goals.

1) Getting it more contemporary in the interior. Both in looks and and function. 10 years in the AZ heat, a lot of plastic has cracked, and yellowed. Age time have caught up to it.

2) Creating more storage. There is a lot wasted space I have found and I need to find a way to make it more accessible.

I expect this project to probably go on through next year.
  • One of the first things I did was begin replacing the light fixtures. I found a model that I liked, Arcon I belive and I have some older LEDs and I will be getting some newer ones. Also, I am working on replacing the vent fixtures. Some could probably use to be all replaced, some just need the inner valance. Makes a difference getting away from the yellowish.

  • Here is a picture of the big guy doing his thing at the dunes. And yeah, gotta get a new windshield curtain thingy....

  • I completed one of the first steps in redoing the interior. The RV has quite a bit of brass accents and the handles, were very brassy LOL

I found a very economical styles at Home Depot. They came in 10 packs and roughly 35.oo for 2 sets. The color is right where I want to be and I like the fact they are small profile. I know it sounds silly but I stand 6'7" and even having smaller profile handles stick out, I seem to notice. This is a picture of the back bedroom.

    Its a start :D

Not the best picture, sorry about the glare.
  • Nice! I have an '07 Coachmen, so I'll have to take notes for replacements around 2027? ;) I've wondered about modernizing the fabric and such (it was by far the best option of the model year, but I still had a friend walk inside and say "why do they use such horrible fabrics???"), but I haven't yet come up with an idea that looks good in my head. Maybe I'll get some ideas from your updates.

Way to get rid of the brass - that made a big difference!
  • Thank you Allie, it was a small thing it seems but really did make a difference. I have plans "fixing it up" and trying to get it done by next fall. Mostly when the budget allows. I have some big things through, such as the awning replacement. And I'd love to tackle the floor. The big project is putting in some sort of hard floor, removing the carpet.

Most of the time, I'm in the boonies and the carpet is hard to keep clean. Still doing my homework on that one.
