I can't leave things well enough alone So I added a Marine style shore power cord inlet.And I also have this so I can use really long heavy gauge extension cords when running small loads in the RV. I don't use it when I plan to run the A/C. Generally I only use it when running my EU2000i for battery charging, or at home.

The inlet was one of the first things I had done to the clipper and the FoldnRoll. Won't suffer with having to shove a cord into a little hole ever again.

Since the little hole seems to be an issue, I simply made a bigger hole covered by a locking hatch. No need to drag out more heavy power cord than necessary or find yet another place to store one.

I removed the detachable and converted it to hard wired for your reasons plus I don't want a troublesome connection in a foamed filled wall.

Yep, 5th wheels and many large motorcoaches (and higher end TTs) have the utility bay and the access port down below. Those are nice.

Mine has a large bay door that is easy to pull out (and return) as much as I need, no more, and it has a small opening at the bottom (against the inside of the door) for the cord to go through.

IMO if you are going to move to a marine type inlet -the Smart Plug is really the way to go. This is because of the minimal contact surface tension and area of the standard marine twist lock design.

I had an RV with a fixed cord, a TT with detachable, and my current TT has a fixed. I never had a problem with either system so I never changed to detachable. A removable cord would take up space in my outside storage so I see that as a negative. I don;t like looking in the storage bay for stuff so I keep using the fixed cord.

They make this inlet in white too, that's what I'm going to use.

On my dad's camper, that little hole for storing the power cord is a great place for mice to enter the camper. We pulled a big nest out of there. But he still hasn't switched over to a marine style though.

I mounted a 3” pvc pipe lengthwise under my 5wheel and just slide my 50 amp power cord in the pipe. Works for me.

Our Class C had a lockable door where the fixed power cord was stored. There was a small hole at the bottom of the compartment that the cable went through so the door could stay locked. I would pull the cable out the door to the length I needed, then fished it through the hole. Never had an issue with the power cord getting hung up on anything. The compartment had plenty of room to store the shore power cable, dog bone adapters and coax cables.

Our Hybrid TT and our current TT have detachable cords, I prefer the fixed cord.
