Repalced springs

I replaced the 2 year old springs (5200) with some 6000lb springs and wet bolts
OLD ONE

NEW
  • The term "wet bolts" refer to the thru bolts that go thru the spring eyes/shackles and are drilled with Zerk fittings in the hex end to use a grease gun to lubricate the pivot points. "Dry Bolts" are not lubricated with grease, they usually are inserted "dry" thru those worthless Nylon sleeves.
  • I bet it rides better too. Was there an issue that prompted the replacement?

the tire in the picture was rubbing on the slideout rail and there was about 1/2" of clearance so asked in a previous thread and the general consensus was bad springs so I changed them and got about
1 1/4" clearance from that slideout rail now

The springs certainly needed replacement. If that 1 1/4" is the vertical clearance above the tire, it still may not be enough.

I think the above was meant to be humorous as the wet bolts are not in the photo. WRT to the second photo, and while it's difficult to tell, it appears the new u-bolts are too long and might hit the gas line at full spring compression. I suggest grinding off the tips.

It is poor design! the bracket is toward the front of the rear tire I have another trip planned and will evaluate then. The new spring has 1 more spring there are 5 instead of 4 and the higher capacity.

The tire will hit the underside of the slide before the gas line
