Replacing the mattress is a no brainers. The "matress" most have from the factory you're better off sleeping on the plywood under it.
Most RVs have built in bed "frames" that hide mechanical/plumbing utilities not easily moved. If that's not the case for your particular unit you may still have to deal with the cosmetic issues involved with removal and replacement.
