replacing carpet

Has anyone replaced their carpet themselves, and replaced it with vinyl or a laminate in a fifth wheel with slides? Any tips? Tired of dirty carpets.

  • Had one that i put laminate in. Getting Ready to put allure in the one I have now.The laminate worked very well Easy to keep clean, The allure is the kind that clicks together
  • Bus Driver, was this in a TT or MH? I have an allegro bay i want to do this in, but have heard of problems with slide rollers. Any advice?
  • Curious about this also, DW wants new carpet or hardwood floors. I keep trying to put it off :R
  • I did my 5th wheel with laminate. Easier to clean and no problems with the slides.
  • I have done a few.If any one is going to do carpet make sure its warm.carpet will stretch better. Use a good 7/16 inch 8# pad.Pad.Padding is the heart of your carpet.
Which you can go cheaper on the carpet.
Laminate is good .If you have slides that the rollers drag on the floor alot
it will start buckling .Since its a floating floor .Laminate can scratch and chip easily
Engineered wood flooring is good .Just have to glue it down
scratches easily aswell. Can nail it better know what's underneith
I Have done alot of vinyl planks.Which is getting alot better looking and very durable.
Luxury vinyl planks is a great choice and looks good.Won't show alot of smears and spots like a laminate does

Our new Forest River Windjammer came with a product called BeauFlor. At first I though it was vinyl planking, kinda like Alure, but it's actually sheet flooring. Looks great IMO and not as thick as the planking type. Of course, it can get wet too.
