Rotating electric jack head unit

Doh! Hadn't occurred to me that the head could be rotated. It's annoyed me since we got the trailer that I couldn't lower the tail gate while hooked up. But I didn't want to extend the draw bar with any type of extension. There's already enough connections to rattle around not to mention one more piece to hook up and one more potential point of failure.

Unfortunately mine wasn't quite as simple.



I thought about turning the base where it connects to the A-Frame, but the holes don't line up if it's turned.



After removing the plastic cover, I was able to remove the 4 hex head bolts holding the gear assembly to the top of the jack. I could then lift the gear assembly and turn it, but I don't have room to turn it 180 degrees. The propane tanks are too close. I turned it 90 degrees like you but since its a rectangular mounting plate, now none of the holes line up. For now, I put the bolts and they are spaced just right so that half of the head grips the mounting plate on each side. I think I will go back with a steel strap/plate and sandwich the mounting plate between it and the gear box. The end of the mounting plate keeps the plastic cover from fitting exactly right, but I got it on ;).

I had to do mine as well. Lucky for me as the holes lined up. I knew if I didn't turn it I would forget and put a nice dent or scratch in my tailgate. All is good now !

Definitely on my to-do list!
