Okay thanks to all for the responses so far - Ron makes a good point for the external sensors and thanks Burbman for the link to the Dill buy page.

I think I am about to pull the plug on one of these, and the TST has the edge:

TireMinder TM55 Wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System, For Brass or Stainless Steel Valve Stems

OR

TST - 507RV 4 Wheel System w/ Cap Sensors

I should buy in the morning.
