I then took a piece of fuel line and slipped it over the metal valve stem. It's a snug fit now and can't flop around.

*Edit: Well, crap. After fiddling with the pics and trying to get them to embed directly, it's not happening for me. And I'm no newbie at this crap. Or at least I don't think I am. :S
Cobra is right and I ran into that with our new trailer. The valve stem hole has a smaller countersink. I took the trailer to America's Tire and they found a metal stem that worked.
