Short 50 to 30 amp cord

I have seen them at WALMART back in the camping section... Thats where we got our 30A to 15A long dogbone adapter from...

If you are going to build one up you will want to wire the 50AMP side like this adapter shows so that both 50AMPS zones in your trailer get 120VAC power...



Note the two HOTs are jumpered inside the adapter

This adapter shown here is for using with your current 50A Connection cable at sites that only have 30A Pedestal Connections. Be sure to follow the same idea of jumpering the two hot leads if you are building up a 30A to 50A Twist lock adapter...

Both zones in the 50AMP RV will be fed by the same 30A source so you will have to watch what gets turned on other wise you will be tripping the source breaker.

Make your own out of 6/4 SO cable and the correct ends for your use. I have a 40' 6/4 SO cable and have no issues with getting it out for quick use with the genney. I keep it stored in a 3 gal. bucket.

I have 50amp at the barn, so I bought the ends and 15' of 6/3 SOOW. Simple and much nicer than having the extra cord laying around. Keep the main cord on a Morryde reel. The short cord never leaves the barn.

I use a 50 to 30 dogbone in the electrical bay and then only use 30amp cords most of the time. My 50amp cords are coiled in a milk crate and kept stored until they are needed which is not too often.

I bought a 25' 50 amp to 30 amp cord for those times we are in 30 amp only sites to avoid dragging out the 50 amp cord.

Thats what I did, you can buy the 30 amp twist lock female conn from Lowes, Home depot, etc. use about 5 ft of 10/3 SO cord and put 30 amp male plug on the other end.

My sticks and bricks has a 30 amp outlet that I plug our 50 amp coach into. I just use a 30 amp extension cord and just pull the 50 amp plug out to the ground, use the adapter for 50 to 30 and plug in the 30 to connect to the outlet. You could probably build one but the time you bought all the pieces and made it up it might be cheaper to buy the 30 extension. A friend bought a 10 foot 50 amp extension at an RV park. Didn't know anyone made a 10 cord so maybe there us a 10 foot 30 out there.
