Simple nightstand solution

Our 5th wheel has a bedroom slideout therefore no nightstands to put anything on. My simple solution to this was to buy two 1/2"x12"x36" pre finished shelfs from home depot. I then slid each shelf, long ways, under the bed mattress and let it overhang the side of the bed 12" or so. You now have a 12"x12" platform to set whatever you like on. Then just slide it back under mattress when on the road. Hope this helps some of you with similar problems.
  • We picked up some "shoe box" size plastic storage drawers at Walmart. 3 stacked on each side of the bed gives additional storage and the top serves as a night table.
  • That is a good idea we have night stands, but they are so low down the side of the bed I nearly fall out if I need to stretch to get something.

I did something similar with a pre-fab shelf - the kind that looks free floating and are designed to display something. It is only about 8 inches long, 4 inches deep and is perfect to hold my glass of wine at just the right height and distance. :D It is perfect on the wall right next to my recliner.
  • Our bedroom slide with a king bed has no nightstands either. I hate not having a place for my phone or glasses. I may not get the 12" but anything is better than nothing. Thanks.
  • Sounds good! Unless your DW is a princess that can detect a pea underneath 12 mattresses...
