Small solar panel for roof vent??????

I think he is referring to a solar powered attic fan like this:

I'm interested in your stick house fan system.

I have a "whole house fan" that blows hot air from the house into the attic, sucking cool air in through the windows. Have good attic venting, 40 foot long peak vent and a gable end exhaust fan. This is very effective most days for cooling the house before going to bed. It can change the air in the whole house in a few minutes.

Do you have 12 volt fans or use an inverter to power AC fans? i am very interested in any details you can provide.

Very expensive and not practical. Much cheaper to just add another battery.

(1)...I work out of my trailer. Sort of a mobile office. With two computers, two monitors, a TV, Keurig coffee machine, refrigerator, lights etc.......A cloudy day and I'm pushing my solar system to the limit. Two or three cloudy days or a shaded campground and the generator comes out.

If I could fit another 140w panel, I would do it in a heart beat. I'm thinking of some type of slide out panel that stores on top of the two existing panels for travel. Or a couple ground based panels that can be more strategically placed for solar gain.

But for now, a small 50w panel to at least relieve the load of the ceiling fans will help a bit. And I found 50w panels for $15 at AltE solar supply in the clearance department.

Yes I have done it for my fiver to suck the hot air out of it while its in the storage lot. Yes it only works when the sun is out but I don't care because at night it cools off.

For one fan I bought the Hengs RV Vortex fan that fits into a standard vent and is powered by a 15W panel mounted on top of my AC cover with a quick disconnect power plug. The fan is wired directly to the panel and I have this fan in our kitchen/living room (highest point). The fan already comes with an on off switch built in.

In our bedroom I would need to take a pic of what I have done but in short, its a 10" fan that snaps onto the vent with another quick disconnect for power that is wired directly to a 15 or 20 watt flexible panel and I reversed the wiring on both fans so it is blowing the hot air out the vents.

I have maxair vent covers on as well. When we get to the CG I can press the on/off on the Hengs fan and close the vent, on the bedroom fan I simply snap off the fan, unplug the quick disconnect and close the vent for the AC.

I have been doing this for years because it can get pretty hot inside while sitting at the lot

Assuming you have an appropriately sized solar panel, I see no great difficulty with doing what you propose. You can hook a motor up to a solar panel directly and it spins when the light hits the panel (assuming they're appropriately matched to each other). It is conceivable that an ill-specified and overly large panel could overpower and overheat a motor.

Whether this would be sensible or not depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If the goal is to extract hot air from the RV on summer days, the direct connection has a nice sort of self-regulating and self-contained aspect that has some appeal.
