Smart Tile Q- Furring Strip

Started installing my Smart Tiles today and for those of you that have done it, what did you do about the furring strip at the corner?
Pics are attached.
Geez, and I thought houses were crooked!
Thanks!

  • Well, whaddayaknow ... I was going to finally tackle this upgrade today and I too have such a furring strip (did not know that is what it was called) but in the middle of the wall that I want to install it on. I too wondered what I should do and I was leaning towards butting up against it either side. I might still do that but I thought it was interesting that this thread popped up today. :)

If you plan on continuing the tiles around the corner I would just remove the furring for a smooth surface. Usually all it does is cover up a seam and you will be doing that. The strips are usually just stapled on so easy to remove. Sometimes you may have to cut along the edge with a knife if it is caulked. I would recommend holding on to the strip you remove. You may need it elsewhere sometime, and matching material is hard to find. Good luck

Yes, I am. Thank you. I wasn't sure wether to remove it or just run the tiles up to the edge of it. It is not caulked, so hopefully it will come off easily.
    Thanks again!
