Solar panel output

I'm mounting 2 250 watt solar panels, flat on my tt roof. How much efficiency will I lose by mounting them flat? Each panel produces 8.32 amps (IMP), so I can expect, say 12 amps after losses? so,50 amp hours a day? Is that about right? Or am I completely off base?

Thanks.
  • You should be getting a lot more than 50AH/day. Even if your panels were mounted so that you didn't get full, direct sun on them all day, in the Summer with 14 hrs of daylight, using an MPPT controller, you should harvest 150-200+ AH.
  • With the amps you posted (8.32) those panels must be 24 volt panels. They will produce twice the current output that you posted after they go through the MPPT controller.
  • Are these 24V panels? A MPPT controller would make your setup more efficient.
  • That sounds like more than enough to me. Depends how much power is needed. Using a big inverter? I am sure there will be more knowledgeable answers from others. I just use a portable 70 watt panel to charge the batteries in my unit.
