spray coat the awning

Hi everyone,

My awning is a few years old. I am planing to spray with the top with Flexible Rubber Sealant (see the link below) . I think it will make is nicer and provide better protection for the rest of the awning . The only concern I have is that flexible rubber may attract dirt. If you look at the top of the RV where Sealant is used, it collects a lot of dirt. Is it safe to spray the awning with this Flexible Rubber Sealant ? Do you suggest other products ?

thanks
  • I'd be running a couple of tests on this idea BEFORE I applied it to my awning...I think you are asking for trouble.

Not so sure that once you spray it on you will ever be able to unroll your awning again.
  • My thoughts would be that either a) it will not stick to the awning due to the coating that is already on it, or b) it will stick to itself when you roll it up and create a sticky mess. I get where you're going but wonder if something like a dry lube might be better. Your best bet might be just a good cleaning with Simple Green and a brush. Not sure I would want to put anything on it. Jmho.
