I am not a sound guy, it seems there are a few different ways to quiet something down. High tech foams, bulk such as a double layer of drywall and in the last generator I built I channeled the sound through a baffle. high tech foam for the ceilings and walls and I had access to lead sheeting and used it for the floor. Ending up with a virtually silent generator.
I would definitely experiment with the mats!
