tankless water heater

I am putting camping quarters in an aluminum horse trailer. I want a shower and am thinking about a tankless water heater and have several questions. Can I use a tankless water heater designed for a home? What about an electric tankless water heater? How much current do they drew? I can wire the trailer to handle how ever much current I need since I will be starting from scratch but what about the hook up. This will often be a drop cord to a 110 volt outlet in a barn. if I choose a gas fired water heater what is involved in venting the burner?

  • First, there are many folks disjointed with a tankless heater in their RV. The isue is the low volume desired so the waste tank doesn't fill. At low volumes, the tankless units drop in and out of heating mode, makes for a bad shower.

Most electric tankless heaters, if not all, operate at 240V. Residential tankless are usually orificed for natural gas but I'm sure propane models are available.

My suggestion would be to buy a 6 Gal. RV heater off E Bay and, if you need to, you can find them that run off either propane or 120V electric.
