Vortex bath fan roof vent modification

A couple of years ago I upgraded my bathroom vent fan from the junky OEM noisy fan to the Vortex II that so many of us here have upgraded to.....

Since about 90% of our camping is drycamping.....battery usage is always on my mind.....my wife and daughters would turn the fan on, close the door and then exit the motorhome....leaving the fan on for who know's how long? As good as this new fan is...it's too quiet!

So I added a 5 minute spring wound timer in a blank corner.....it was smooth and straight forward.....I only had to grind 2 corners of the timers faceplate...

5 minutes of fan time should be enough and won't break the battery bank.....so to speak!

  • A five minute timer on shock collars would also work.

  • Only 5 min? I wouldn't even be halfway through the sports section by then.

Great idea, and nicely done! It looks like you left the original switch on as well?

I figured I might as well sice it's already there....better than trying to patch a hole.....

I did the same thing years ago except used 60 minute timer. It's especially handy after we take our showers. Jut turn it up to 40 minutes or so and the bath area dries out nicely.

I had the same thought.....so that's why I chose the timer with a "Hold" feature (Works as a on/off switch)....but that's NOT to be used while dry camping....

You might get more air flow if you wash the screen.

I'm in charge of maintenance and modifications......not cleaning!:B
