I used a mount like Roy's first pic above, but I screwed it right into the stud in the wall (I lucked out there was a stud where I wanted it). If there had not been a stud there, I would have gone with a backer board and spanned 2 studs, I don't think I would have trusted molly bolts and the thin lauan walls to hold it.
