There is another model that doesnt have the external tank hookup as well.
X2. I usee this also. Works great. As for wasting fuel when you disconnect the hose I just turn off the tank and let the fuel burn out of the hose at the end of grilling. Disconnect hose and turn propane bcck on if needed. My splitter stays hooked to the tank at all times.
