Which aux propane tank for Weber Q?

I just took the 20 pound tank from the house when we went full time. Neighbor took my grill it was in better shape than his. Brought a hose from walmart for connection to my Weber baby Q.

I have this one and a Weber Q. (the small table top model). Great set up. Easily lasts more than a week of nightly grilling..

Easy to transport, easy to store and easy to find propane close by most anywhere we ever camp. (We have yet to camp on Mars, so not sure about availability there).

I just use a spare 20lber from home. But lugging it away from the campsite isn't much of a concern for me.

Another option...get one of the refill fittings for your 1lb tank so you can carry one of those for your trips away from camp?

Yes 1 pound tanks are headache even if you re-fill them yourself, they're still a pain.

Notice different BTU's for each. BTU size also reflects how much propane flow they need.

Our old 1000 worked off fine from the BBQ connection on RV. But very low temp. When we replaced we got a higher BTU model (the 2000 which burns a lot hotter) the regulated propane from RV tanks wouldn't keep up, so I started bring along 5 foot hose and 5 gallon propane bottle. Propane line to get made up was about $35.00

Not sorry we got bigger BTU model, puts a nice sear on steaks. Burns off just about 99% of everything off when done cooking. IR gun says 600 degrees. Also great for our combining RVing and canning fruit trips when in season. If I'd known about the regulated propane flow at the time I would got the another 1000 and kept working off the RV propane hose that goes thru a regulator. Even though temp was low. Instead of having to carry more stuff.

Old 1000 was great but meet its demise falling off tailgate. Must of landed just right to the crack top.

Those Coleman 1 lb tanks do get expensive, but they sure are a lot handier if you move a lot.

I have 2 of these and love them. 1 gallon (5 pound) tank.

I prefer this one to the one downtheroad posted because it is not as large in diameter.

I do the same thing plus a Adapter hose Keeps my Q 220 cooking for more than 5 days of Grilling.
Both fit nicely in the rear cargo bay.

I have just 1 and get most of a season out of a fill. My season involves many 4 day weekends as far as I can stretch out 6 weeks of vacation. Just had to have tank recertified as I've been using since 1999. Same tank / 3 different grills in last 15 years. Randu

We have a 5 pound tank for our 213 B+ with which we use with a Coleman Fold N Go Grill and a 11 pound tank for the Baby Q, we use when in the Phaeton. Both work very well with the proper hose.

I bought an adaptor for the external propane connection on my trailer and got 2 10 ft lengths of hose which I connect together (if required) then put the BBQ on the picnic table or my portable stand. No need to carry around extra propane tanks!
