SoundGuy... I think you are just making this more complicated than it has to be. I never said I don't use propane for the frige and HW heater as necessary. If shore power fails, I still have the propane hooked up, and yes, it will cut over for the fridge, and a simple switch cuts on the HW heater. Nowhere did I say I am relying totally on shore power for ever. C'mon man, get real. The camper will not fall apart and the world will not blow up if I disconnect one of my propane tanks to fuel my grill for a bit. My grill has a hose already with it, so no, I don't need anything else other than to disconnect the tank.
And yes, hauling a 5lb tank is easy, and even easier than disconnecting the trailer tank. But, it's another thing to pack and haul. I may find myself buying a 5lb tank but for now, the 30 secs I spend pulling a tank to fuel my grill works just fine.
