Try to hit at least one roof truss top chord with a fastener. Slather up underneath each bracket with Dicor as Got Dirt has done. Sleep well, as these panels don't take flight. You don't need a deflector or any other heroic measures.
BTW, well nuts in 3/8" plywood don't have much grip, even epoxied in place. It is about the dimension of the material and it's strength (plywood) and not about the strength of the fastening system (well nuts).
