Where to find replacement mattress?

Hello, I scanned previous responses to this question and didn't quite find what I was looking for.

I'd like to replace our 5th wheel mattress. Pretty sure it's a shortened queen.

Do RV mattress dealers exist that specialize in odd sizes or do I need to find a mattress shop and ask for a custom built one?

Recommendations are appreciated.
  • You can buy a standard length queen memory foam mattress and simply trim 6 inches off the length with a sharp knife or electric carving knife. We did this and it is super comfortable.
  • We got our new rv mattress (short queen) from Overstock.com. Was delivered via UPS. It is a memory foam mattress.
  • We went to the local chain mattress store. They had them at their warehouse in town so had it within a matter of a day or so.
  • Original Mattress Company will make you a short queen for $50 extra on any of their mattresses. We got one form them and are very happy.

  • A small mom& pop furniture store near me will order a size you need. So I would guess most others will do the same. My local rv dealer has many new odd mattress that came in new campers, check with them. People want there own mattress they are used to in there new camper.
  • We replaced our mattress a few years ago.
Stopped by a mattress shop, selected one we liked.
Mattress shop delivered to the RV park where we stayed - they removed old mattress & hauled it away for disposal.
They carried new mattress into our MH and put in place.
We had to install the sheets & pillowcases ourselves so it wasn't entirely as easy as it sounds...:B
  • I was searching Craigslist the other day. There appeared to be local Home Furnishing/Bedroom dealers that also sell RV mattress.
  • Good call, thanks. I didn't think to check camping world online, since their local dealer didn't stock any mattresses.
  • I've never heard of an RV mattress store.

And there is no need to have a custom mattress built.

You actually have a couple options. You can get a short queen mattress built for RVs from most RV dealers, although you may have to order it. Camping World stores sell them via the internet, too. So do many other RV dealers who sell RV parts on the web.

What you need to do is grab a tape measure: regular queen size is 79-80 inches long. Short RV queens are 74 inches long. If there is room for an 80 inch mattress in your rig, you can get those anywhere, and for what it is worth, we replaced the 3 inch thick crummy spring-loaded short queen in our TT with a 10 inch thick foam regular queen mattress from Sam's Club for about $300 last year that is the most comfortable mattress we've ever owned. But our rig had room for the larger size, although I had to replace the plywood under it with a longer piece to support the added length.
