If you'll use the search function on this - or any - RV forum, you'll find many threads and discussions on this topic.

That said, we prefer good-quality foam mattresses (we have a Tuft & Needle queen size in our rig), but you have to consider moisture mitigation on a solid platform so you don't get mold or mildew. There are ventilated substrates available to manage moisture designed for RVs and boats.

Go to your local mattress store and try them all out. If you have a true queen and not a chopped corner or a short queen, then what ever you like will fit just fine.

Measure your TT mattress size. It may not be a standard size.

If it is not standard you are stuck with an RV mattress supplier, a custom mattress maker or modifying your TT bed.

We just added a four inch foam pad to ours. Mattresses are like beer, everyone has their favorite.

We went to the local upholstery shop and ordered a 6" thick slab of the foam that is used in furniture upholstery. It's the firmer one that is pink. Had it shortened to our short queen size for a total of $285..put a 3" memory foam topper ($100) on it and it's the best bed we've ever slept on in our 60 years of marriage. We did this probably 12 years ago,it still sleeps like new, no sagging, "valleys" etc. We use it 6 months every year and have had it in two 5th wheels.

We found a selection of short queen mattresses at iOverstock.com and got one that was both in the budget AND comfortable.

Two RVs ago we had a foam mattress custom made locally and besides costing $$$$ it wasn't as comfortable as the one from Overstock.

You're certainly not alone on this popular mod as the vast majority of RVers have replaced the stock mattress that came with their rigs. After our first trip out it in our new rig over a decade ago we knew the mattress had to go, luckily we had a standard queen size mattress and simply went to one on the many mattress stores in our area and picked out something more comfortable. Added a gel memory foam topper a few years back and it has held up to heavy use over the last decade.

Just did the same thing...bought a new mattress for my trailer. Original mattress, replaced by a memory foam mattress. I have a Tempurpedic top of the line mattress at home, wanted memory foam for sure, but Tempurpedic doesn't make RV sizes (short queen). Decided to go with T H I S - Zinus Ultima Comfort 10 inch memory foam mattress. First trip out last weekend, it felt like getting in to bed at home. Combined with memory foam pillows, also like at home, and I had the best sleep I've had in the trailer since I've owned it.

I currently have a Dynasty Deluxe 10" memory foam mattress. Bought it for my last trailer, and transferred it to my new trailer. Sleeps great. The only thing I would change is getting a 7" rather than 10 memory foam. That 10" mattress is a bit heavy.

My back hurts if I sleep on a flat mattress, so I have an adjustable bed in my trailer, and at home. Our trailer came with a short queen mattress, and a french fry pillow to extend it to a full queen. The adjustable bed fits just fine and has a firm 8" memory foam mattress on top. I ordered them from Walmart online and have slept great ever since.
