Who has Solar/ what controller/panels?

Aims has a poor reputation.

Put the outlet inside the shore power cord box. That way it can be used when trundling down the road and it will be protected from the weather.

#10 wire would be fine for panel to converter but I'd go larger because you may wish to add another panel.

#4 wire is smallish for an 800 watt inverter unless it is extremely close to the battery bank. There will already be voltage drop at the battery bank so it is better to oversize the cable.

Yes I thank you all.. I had no idea my convertor as well as any convertors have a wire that allows you to turn off the convertor.

I may leave the wire where it is as I did a test and the only outlets that do not work are the two on both sides of the queen bed, and one in the bedroom on the wall that is really never used.

All 5 other outlets are on another breaker.

Kitchen
Dinette
TV/wall
Outside outlet.

Some or all of these are GFI protected. ( Will this be an issue)

So my choices are these for what I propose to do solar and invertor.

4 gauge wire from invertor to battery, to charge controller to battery.

Not sure wire size from solar panels to controller..

Converter on should have the battery at ~13.7 volts.
Converter off should have the battery drifting down to 12.6 or less.

If the converter is moved to the open breaker.... if the switch is off, converter is off.

Buy one rated for running motors. Buy one that has the capacity to run the highest draw appliance. For example my Dometic microwave is 1591 watts. That means a 2500 watt MSW Cobra inverter struggled to start it consistently. I've since moved to a 3000 watt PSW Magnum, and any issues have disappeared.

You can have any two of these three items, cheap, reliable, repairable.

The preferred inverters are pure sine wave for the cleaner output. I had a cheap one of those that worked fine until I ran the little air conditioner and it died. What I use now is a Tripp-lite 1250fc industrial inverter suggested by Mr Wizard. It is MSW but the various electronics like phone chargers, the satellite box and TV run much better than if I use our cheap MSW inverter that gets those things running hot. It also has the guts to start the A/C or a fridge over and over. I paid $200 for mine new and it will handle anything I throw at it.

Whats a good invertor to get? Cheap.. Say a 1500 watt...

Switch the breaker off before you plug into the inverter. Remember that you will need a adapter to go from the 30a plug of the RV to the 15a plug of the inverter. I use the simple adapter that came with the trailer but I have read that a dog bone is better.

pulled the panel .. The convertor wire is labeled and piggy backed with the 15 amp breaker for the front outlets.

I have an empty 15 amp breaker. I assume I should move it to that one..

So this convertor wire will shut down the charging section correct?

Then I can plug my travel trailer 30 amp cord directly to the invertor and switch this breaker...:)

OK I will check and post back...

Turn on all the lights in the "house". Then flip off the breakers one by one. When the converter shuts down the lights will dim a little bit.

Or use a volt meter to see what the DC voltage is. When it drops you have found the correct breaker.
