Window Valances

Question

I need to re-do the valances on my window. They are pleated fabric that has deteriorated. The vertical pieces are covered and look fine. I am thinking of doing the top piece to match the walnut cabinets or cover thin plywood.
Looking for ideas, anyone done window treatments they would like to share?

My brother-in-law recovered the top of his valances and put wood with routing down the vertical sides. Looks great! don't have pics sorry.

Changing the window treatments is quite simple. The material is just stapled and/or glued. If you remove everything add a light layer of quilt batting under the finish material.

I bet the wooden trim looks great.

(This is a little off topic and then again spot on and I know your talking about valances).  Be careful in the kitchen or any flame.
