We recently purchased a 2002 Cardinal WBLX. When looking at the rig the first time, the owner opened both slides and we were satisfied that all was functional. After the deal was made, but prior to picking up the unit (we were going to have it inspected), we went back to look it over again. At that time, we realized that only one switch operates both slides. The bedroom slide goes out first and then the living area slide. Regardless of the position of the slides, it ALWAYS opens the BR slide completely before it will move the LR slide.Example: You are bringing in the slides (BR is already in and closed tight), the LR slide starts in and you realize you didn't move the throw rug. You need to move the LR slide back out about 1 inch or so in order to pick up the rug - you can't do it until the BR slide is completed out. Having one switch to operate both slide is just a dumb idea to me.My question is this: Has anyone else ever had this situation and had the switch rewired so that there are two switches? Is it even possible? And if it is possible, is it financially feasible?Thanks in advance for your help.

actually I think that is common. this is how my TT operates too. only one switch and the bed room goes out first and comes in last.

Might be common but stupid to me too. On our Class A we have 2 switches and there are times we only want to open the bedroom slide for sleeping one night and leave the living room slide in. I would talk to a good RV mechanic to see if it's feasible.

Just be glad you don't have 3-4 slides set up like that.We have 3 slides.......all on separate switches.The two living room slides are hydraulic, use the same pump but have individual solenoids operated by separate switches.Your single switch must have several contacts on it........and relay on each slide that swaps power. Probably a jumper for power and separate switches would work.And I agree.......one switch is just stupid.

Yeah that is strange. Ours has a switch for each slide.

Thank you all for your responses! So I gather that this is common in quite a few rigs. However, I still think it is a dumb idea. :R JMHO.

Thank you "motorcycle jack" for the information that it *can* be done. However, I'm not sure that it would be financially feasible for us to have someone do it - and we are not mechanically inclined enough to handle something like this. :E

We have 4 slides. 2 electric and 2 hydraulic and they each have their own switch. That way we can control how they open. We are very cautious and I stand outside to make sure the slides deploy properly and do not hit anything. We can check inside before each slide is deployed to make sure we are not going to damage anything. It does not sound like a good idea to us to have all the slides on the same switch.

ours has 3 hyd and 1 elec, if I dont want a hyd slide open. I just have my wife or me hold is closed from the outside, the others will open first. the hyd slides all work on this principle. Works while closing also.

You can get a mobile RV mechanic to rewire it for you. Basically you have a switch on the bedroom slide that keeps power to the bedroom slide until it is in or out, then switches power to the LR slide. He will remove that switch, make sure power is going to the BR slide, find or run a new power to the LR slide thru a switch he will mount next to your NOW BR slide switch. I did it for my step-father about 12 years ago. It took me a whole day but then I didn't know what I was doing ! :)

Our CC Silverback has both - on the inside control station, 1 switch for all three, but in the outside control station I can operate each one separately, by shutting off them off individually however I want. This will also effect the inside controls then.

Hydraulic system.

So my question with the one switch. If one doesn't open then the others also are no operational. Makes for a small living area in a pinch.

My Wildcat has 1 switch for 2 slides. Opens the BR first the the LV....closing it does the BR 1st then the LV. I got used to it.

I have a 04 Keystone challenger with 3 hydraulic slides and are on one switch and yes it is dumb but you get use to it. I was going to get the seperator valve but did not want to mess with the hydraulic lines. Only problem is if you need to get to something behind the side of the living room sllide you have to open all three to get to it because it is the last one to move out.

Maybe a little inconvenient. But you get used to it. Really not a great biggie. Don't bother messing with it.
