I've been looking trading up my trailer to a fifth wheel that can be towed with my f150 5.0 v8 ton w/ short bed (5.5) I've looked at cougars and open range. three questions: can they really be towed safely? are there any other models that will work? and finally the keystone dealer told me I needed a special sliding hitch that would cost $3500! is this right? thanks for any responses.

You prolly would need a slider. And yes, there are 5ers that can safely be towed with a 150. You just need to stay within the weight capacity Ford outlines for your version of the F150. It's NOT going to be a big 5er. You will be able to tow a much larger TT with your truck.Not quite sure why you think getting a 5er is trading up.

No you can get a flagstaff they come with the reese revolution so no need for a slider

to terryallan - because of the price - we have 24ft. keystone hideout and we love it, but thinking of more room and also we have been told the handling and towing is better, true?
