Overall, yes... for a gas truck it delivers a lot of power. I'm towing a 10,500# 5th and wouldn't want to go much heavier. But, I have the 3.73 gears and live out west with lots of hills. The 4.10 rear end would be better but not by a huge margin I don't think.
I'm thinking of jumping to a diesel but the main problem is I don't want the leaf springs in the 3500 (too harsh as a daily driver) and don't want to spend 60K to buy a truck I know I'm going to overload (2500 with coils). I'll likely live out the summer with the gasser and see what the new offerings for 2017 are. Ford and Chevy/GMC are both planning a redesign I believe.
Im guessing the jump to leafs really depends on the model ? My 3500 rides like a Cadillac unloaded and hardly settles with a little over 2K of hitch weight in the bed
