1999 Terry 27.5k by Fleetwood

Folks the 5ver we purchased, and unfortunately were taken on, was just going to be to big of a problem for us to handle in the time frame allowed for repairs. This resulted in us asking around and one of our good friends/neighbors has a friend selling an immaculate 1999 Terry 5er. This trailer is below NADA low book by $2000. I am having it inspected tomorrow by a professional RV tech. So my question now is focusing on the brand reputation to weigh in on the decision making process.

So community, any input for us? Does Terry/Fleetwood have a good reputation or a poor one? Is the quality dependent on the site of manufacture or does the company quality control actually work through out all facilities? I know this is a broad based question but just looking for some input is all. "Safety in a multitude of Counselors" are words one can live by. I sure wish I had applied them when purchasing our first RV. Well live and learn, keep smiling, and do NOT make the same mistake twice! =P

Anyway thank you to all who have input for us.

Take care o/
  • We have a 2000 33' Terry and have been very happy with it. It's mostly used for boondocking and has been in some rough places, but has held up very well.
  • We purchased a 1990 Terry that I am in the process of repairing some water damage. Sorry, no pictures. I can't upload due to 'puter glitch. They don't appear to have done a good job of sealing, the opening for the truck power cable is almost double what it needed to be. I think that is where most of the moisture entered. The skin also was not completely caulked, poor quality control but is worth fixing considering what we paid for it.
  • Very good camper. I have a 2000 27.5 and love it. To bad mine has water damage and not worth repairing. Have replaced it with a Dutchman, but keeping the Terry as a guest house.
  • At that age, who made it and how well is far less important then who maintained it and how well.

It sounds like the "who maintained" is good.
  • I have had 2 Terry's over the years and was well pleased with both.
