The HP and Torque numbers are estimated and probably low for my truck. It has custom pistons, custom cam, 200 HP injectors, and a quadzilla that cuts fuel to keep the smoke limited. I run the box on low levels while towing. Have plenty of power. Also have a larger turbo. everything was set up for towing.
The transmission was rebuilt by three different shops two of them twice before the last one figured out that the reason they kept going out was a sticking pressure regulator valve in the valve body when the transmission got hot from towing. They ended up changing out all pressure valves in all transmissions from then on, the word got around. They were originally aluminum and they all went to steel after mine. I gave up after the figured it out and sold the transmission to some guy in Finland with the new valve. I put the Allison in and the first one blew so I went with a second one. I wasn't sure about the quality of the first build and found out that the Allisons were having problems with the Cummins. The new ones come with an unlimited mileage warranty. I should have bought a new truck. But it was always cheaper to fix then to take on the payments of a new truck........I never want to own a new truck or car when I get rid of these in the near future. I will be moving on to a boat and I'm sure I will have new and different problems.....LOL.
I will tell you that the Allison is a lot more fun and nicer to drive then the 48RE ever was. It uses Allison DOC programing and has lock up in every gear except first.
